Attorney, ADR Programs (Worker Advocate)
Hayes Dolce LLP is a labor and employment law firm based in New York State, representing workers, unions, and worker organizations. We are hiring a licensed attorney to advocate for workers injured on large construction projects. Our firm participates in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) programs on these projects, which operate as a parallel system to traditional workers' compensation. The programs require an attorney in this role, but you will not litigate or appear in court. You will manage the working relationships among the parties, help them reach agreements, and bring a high volume of small matters to resolution while protecting workers' interests.
The firm has spent years earning the trust of the parties in these programs, and the job begins with an intensive training period in which a senior attorney shows you how the programs run. During training, you may also take on employment matters from the firm's general docket, such as wage theft and discrimination claims.
This is primarily remote work with no fixed schedule. Each project holds in-person meetings across New York State approximately once a quarter. With several running at once, you will manage your own calendar across them. As the role grows, some days will bring dozens of calls to coordinate the parties and resolve issues. Most of the work is moving each matter through the ADR process and coordinating the people involved at each step.
Our attorneys come from union organizing, teaching, and advocacy backgrounds, and we look for colleagues who have chosen the worker side deliberately. The right person can walk someone through an unfamiliar process and gives every matter the same attention, large or small.
